Hello,
I'm Deepti. An Industrial Designer.
As a design student, I am deeply aware of the overwhelming abundance of objects around us, many lacking purpose. My journey is centred on crafting designs that reintroduce simplicity through meaning. Through my work, I seek to create pieces that are intentional, carving out a place where objects resonate with clarity and purpose. Here, I share my evolving approach to design.
LIGHT DESIGN
PANEER
“Paneer” is a versatile lighting solution designed for adaptability. Using a single aluminum extrusion, it can be paired with various diffusers and suspended both horizontally and vertically, creating multiple cross-sections. This flexibility allows for different caps to match each configuration, making it suitable for general household lighting with a range of customizable options.
SUSTAINABLE DESIGN
AASRA
“Aasra” focuses on improving living conditions and privacy for construction workers and slum dwellers residing in temporary, cramped spaces. By addressing issues such as lack of privacy for activities like changing clothes, breastfeeding, and bathing, as well as challenges faced with outdoor tasks, this project aims to develop solutions tailored to the unique needs of this community.
PARAMETRIC DESIGN
MILIEU
“Milieu” explores the adaptable potential of gyroids—minimal surfaces with zero mean curvature that form a lattice when repeated in three dimensions. By breaking down the gyroid into its smallest module, this project creates an informal workspace that blends function and form. The design leverages the gyroid’s interspaces to create versatile pockets for lounging and sitting, resulting in a structure that’s both accommodating and experiential, offering a dynamic blend of division and continuity.
School makerspaces often restrict students' ability to move freely with their materials and projects, making the creative process less fluid. The Stow reimagines this experience by providing a mobile storage solution designed specifically for kids. It allows them to transport their tools or materials and work effortlessly, encouraging greater mobility and flexibility. Acting as a companion in the makerspace, the Stow supports active participation and collaboration, aligning with the dynamic and exploratory nature of hands-on learning in active learning schools.
